Berry Coldplay

There is a fine place to be, on a winter’s eve. With the wind outside raising merry hell, merrily. And the ioutsides of your insides shivering away, trying to be inside your outsides. Steam rises from a warm cup of tea, and the fragrance of cookies fills the air. Rootie Kazootie peeks at you from a corner, and you catch a glimpse of Gala Poochie Pup running down the corridor.

The magic in the air is palpable, almost, and it’s a moment frozen in time.

But now, it’s a day later (No time travel, I just saved a draft), and it’s time to think about the elements of the periodic table. Why the Periodic Table? Well, dummy, it’s a periodic table, which implies periodicity, and that period of periodicity has come to its periodic end, right now, this instant. So get with the program, huh?

Yes, so looking at the much maligned periodic table, I can see all you history geeks cursing it. Well, you know what, I know this guy who had the whole damn thing memorized! Yes, Mama, I’m talking about you. And here’s the cue for all you chemistry geeks to snigger and say, what he only had the periodic table memorized? For us, organic chemistry was a walk in the park-blindfolded, lame, and with wild dogs chasing us. (Yes, you punctuative pedants, I know that should have been an em-dash in that last line, but I’m typing this on my laptop, so gimme a break, huh?)

Geeks, geeks, everywhere. Here a geek, there a geek, everywhere a geek geek.

Yes, it is that time of day/year, when I write about whatever my fingers type. They, like, have this mind of their own, like, y’know, like..ummm..whatever.

Good day, and all we need is for the X360 price to drop by a few gazillion Zimbabwean dollars, so us poor tech analysts can afford it again.

Berry, why berry? Berry bold, that’s why. Coldplay is cold, but it plays nevertheless. It ain’t a playa though. Who da playa? How the heck would I know? I can’t even understand this thick accents.. you kids better get the heck off my lawn!

Bye bye, rock a bye bye, feel it, heal it, reel it in, reel it in! Don’t let it get away, oh no, you did, you did you did, run run run, head for the hills, don’t leave your pets behind, hold on to your hats, women and children first, first is the comma of timely intervention, invention is the mother of my aunt’s uncle who has a beard and isn’t my aunt, since he has a beard, and I’ll take a breath and stop now!

Phew!

The geek, the geek shall inherit the earth!

So your average 5th year law student comes home after a gruelling semester all exhausted. Arrives at 1:30 AM. What does he do? Set up his computer with dual-monitors of course!!

heh heh heh

Avid readers of my blog (laugh not, there are a few…well, alright, I’m talking about me) will be aware that I bought a widescreen LCD monitor a while back. A nice big 20.1 incher. I still kept my 21″ CRT though, but left it at home while I took the LCD to college. I’ve been itching to try them together for a long while, and yesterday I finally managed.  I used dual monitors ages back, when I actually had to use one AGP and one PCI card, and the monitors were 14″ CRT’s.. ah, those were fun days.

The best part of dual-monitors is the multi-tasking. If, like me, you have a lot of windows open that don’t need your concerted attention, but just a glance every now and then, dual-monitors are better than a large screen (of course, if both of ‘em are 20 inchers… heh). And of course, the geek factor is nice too. People walk into my room, and their jaws literally drop. Nerdvana!

So, as you can tell, I’m home, I’m happy and I’m geeky. Good food beckons, so I leave you now.

Where O where have I been?

Where have I been, you might be asking, gentle reader. I wish I knew. The last couple of months have passed by in a blur. My brother got married, which was extremely hard work for everyone except him! Indian weddings are no joke, especially if your family is as fantastically crazy as mine is. (in the nice way!)

Post wedding, I think I lost my geek touch for a while. No more did I want to install the latest and greatest Ubuntu and Xandros… Oh, the horror! This lasted for a while, till I realized that I’ve never seen what XGL/Compiz looks like.. One Dapper install later, a suitably amazed me felt a disturbance in the force. The Earth Masters awaken! I wake from my bewitched daze and spring forth, ready to battle Cybermen and Battle-droids, and maybe, possibly, in a pinch, even Daleks!

Extra geek points to you if you got all the references in that post. Leave a comment if you did. And Manu, no using Google and pretending you are a stud.. heh heh heh

Aaanyways, I am back, and writing about nothing much as usual, boring my millions of avid fans till their eyes pop out of their head. Talking of eyes popping out heads.. Which movie had the main actor wearing bloody eyeballs as cufflinks??

If you thought “A Clockwork Orange”!, more power to you.. I just saw that yesterday for the first time. I’ve read the book before, but the movie is fantastic.. Weird, violent, and makes you want to throw up occasionally.. or is that laugh? A must see movie.. if you are above 18. Lots of the old ultra-violence here, my brothers.

I’ve been on a classic movie kick for a while. Watched the Graduate, On the Waterfront, Rebecca, Philadelphia Story, and a coupla others. All good movies.

As you can tell, my life is pretty damm boring right now. Consists of reading, movies, and the odd bit of studying thrown in for a change, like oregano in biryani.. not a good idea. Still, we are moving along, and I’m off to Delhi today, to spend a few days with my brother and sister-in-law. Loads of good food, some interesting converstation, and dollops of sleep. Not a bad recipe for a holiday, what?

This is my last year in college. By now, one is supposed to know exactly what one is going to do.. well, this one has no clue! I mean, seriously, I am actually beginning to get a little worried about this.. What will I do with myself after I pass out? Graduate school is an option, but my grades aren’t exactly exemplary.. On the other hand, they ain’t THAT bad.. I could get in! ( Hope springs eternal!) Maybe I could get a job with a law firm, if anyone would hire me. Some people say that I would be hired instantly, others say I would never be hired.. Oh well.

Or I could stay at home and be a burden on my aged Mom.. (she ain’t that aged!).. Be like those poor geeks in the movies, thirty years old and staying at home, with a room full of toys. Shudder..

Oh me, oh my, who can see what lies in the future! Time to head out, gentle reader, time to head out. Take care.
